Sharing, support and inclusion are at the heart of our project…
Mindfulness is the thread that runs through all the elements of our cliff-top project and when practiced has been shown to be beneficial to the mental health of individuals from all parts of the community; old and young, rich and poor, men and women alike.
2 Acre Mindfulness Field & Walking Meditation Grove
On one side, a clear, quiet and open space overlooking the ocean and rugged Cornish coast inviting all to connect with nature and take time for contemplation, practise active meditation techniques such as Tai-Chi and Yoga, or simply sit in open awareness appreciating the elements.
On the other will be a more structured area of lined trees, forming a small grove in which to practice Mindful Walking Meditation; a wonderfully peaceful and nourishing practise that enables us to slow down, clear our minds and appreciate every quiet, conscious step we take. Both areas will be free to access and open to all, year round, from 8am – 8pm during the spring and summer months and from dawn till dusk during autumn and winter.
Community Farm & Medicinal Herb Garden
Volunteer-lead, permaculture inspired and growing a range of herbs, flowers and edibles our Community Farm will be a central feature of our initiative, unifying members from many different areas of the project. A small flock of free range rescue hens will also act as natural fertilisers and ground clearers, scratching their way through the plots after each crop has been harvested.
Emphasising the benefits of both seasonal and circular production, free range eggs and surplus produce from our allotment-style communal growing space will be available to purchase in our hub area and a small Apothecary will also offer tinctures and other healing remedies made using the herbs from the Medicinal Herb Garden.
Meditation Centre & Holistic Hub
Set to be located inside a purpose-built barn, our hub building will provide a central amenity space offering information, guidance and access to a number of holistic resources and activities; but will primarily serve as a Meditation Centre to support the all-round mental and physical health of both residents and the wider local community. Holistic therapies adopt an approach that considers and incorporates the wellness of mind, body and soul to best serve their participants. They can provide the perfect accompaniment to the more traditional talk therapy services we will be signposting people towards in our resource area, where information and guidance relating to debt management and housing rights will also be available.
Within our hub there will be a small, self-serve corner café providing an area to enjoy a quick cuppa or light snack and we will also have mindful colouring books and jigsaw puzzles freely available for all to sit and quietly immerse themselves in some simple Creative Mindfulness activities.
Our centre will provide:
Morning and/or Evening Sitting Meditation Sessions: Free and open to all, these will run for approximately 45 minutes and are an opportunity for people to come and experience meditating as part of a group.
Mindful resources provided by Plum Village – a well-established, engaged Buddhist community with monasteries worldwide – will lead us through simple guided meditations; suitable for all levels of experience whether they be newcomers to meditating or already have an existing practise which they wish to deepen and share within a group setting.
Open Door Community Practise: Also free to all, these will be laid back, 2 hr sessions where people can use the hub space for individual or small group Yoga, Tai Chi and other active meditation and mindfulness practices.
Active Meditation Evening Classes in Yoga, Tai Chi and more: During our evening classes we will look at and try different forms of active meditation and mindfulness – using meditation to explore creativity, movement and self-expression.
We will be offering many different yogic styles – from active Vinyasa Flow to more restorative Yin approaches – and all our active meditation classes will be run by local, qualified and experienced practitioners. Sessions will be open to all levels, abilities, shapes and sizes!
Our Reading Corner: Preloaded kindles and plenty of hard copy books will create a mini holistic library covering the topics raised in our classes and sessions. The reading corner will be a soft, relaxing space to sit and absorb. Where possible, titles will also be available to purchase.
Cligga Grove Book Club: A weekly reading group bringing people together to think more deeply and discuss various approaches to living well.

Mindful Living Retreats
Inspired by Plum Village, France
Held during the month of July, from 2024 we will be offering Mindful Living Retreats; providing guests with an opportunity to spend a week with us onsite engaging more deeply in group mindfulness activities such as walking meditation and dharma sharing, as well as participating in mindful service by helping us on our Community Farm.
During this period our Mindfulness Field will become our Community Campsite – a joyful space where participants can either enjoy a bit of Glamping in one of our 5 onsite bell tents or bring their own camping equipment for a more budget-friendly break.
